Plants
The planting in the garden really takes centre stage. There are
wave-like grasses, carrying into the borders the water theme
already introduced by the ‘sardine tin’ canal, rainwater puddle
ring and water butt.
Flowers appear to float above the other greenery.
Nostalgic ‘five-a-day’ raised vegetable baskets and a healthy
salad bar have starring roles towards the front of the garden. The
carefully crafted baskets provide a sculptural focal point when the
growing season is over.
In many gardens, weeds try to steal the show, but in this case
they are given a supporting role, with cow parsley and even nettles
included in the planting. All the plants are seasoned performers,
even the trees, which as well as being decorative, must also
produce fruit or nuts.
