Judges' Comments
All the judges were instantly impressed with Heather’s design
and really excited by the potential they saw in it.
They loved the way the design covered the practical aspects of
the brief, incorporating ideas for sustainable living without
compromising on aesthetics. Features such as the salad bar and the
solar panels nestled into the living roof of the shed made these
more functional items seem fun and exciting.
Their imaginations were captured by the story the garden told,
which also showed how much thought had gone into the design. The
judges were impressed by the number of little details included in
the garden, such as quotations carved into the floors and walls,
that each visitor would only discover as they walked around the
garden and would interpret in their own individual way.
In her submission, Heather said she loves the ‘theatre’ of show
gardens and it was this playful attitude that, weaving its way
through her design, ultimately won the judges over.
