Potty about plants
28th April 08
Heather seems to have a lot of the planning for the garden under
control. She’s been working with the contractors to sort out
structures such as the entrance to the garden and the baskets which
the vegetables and salad will be planted in. The major job I’ve got
to tackle is sourcing all the plants. I know from experience this
can be a tricky task.
The overriding theme of Heather’s garden design is water, so we
want the planting to reflect this, creating the impression of waves
and splashes. I’ve been trying to get my head around this, but I
find that the best thing to do is to just get out there and visit a
few nurseries. It’s the best way to find inspiration and you often
come across plants you would never have thought of on your own.
In the past, I’ve gone as far as Lanzarote to find the right
plants, but I think I’m going to stick with the UK this time
around. I just hope Heather’s pleased with my suggestions.
